Zeta: Class V+ Zeta is a very extraordinary rapid. The entire Futaleufu is being funneled and compressed through a very narrow bottleneck and sharp turn in the river. Zeta is not a rapid to be underestimated. It has extremely large consequences and is in the most remote section of the Futaleufu. The famous monster rapid Zeta is also home to Earth Rivers ‘Cave Camp’ and a unique place to spend a night under the southern stars. This exclusive spot which hosts a shore line hot pool quickly became my favorite spot on the entire Rio Futaleufu. Numerous caves become sleeping areas and the main cave a fabulous location to dry gear and prepare a meal. Behind camp is a short hike and easy rock climb to the top of the ‘Tower’ for a beautiful panoramic view of the Futaleufu Valley over two hundred feet below. | Note: permission with Earth River is required for the use of Cave Camp.
