The Gates: Class IV The canyon starts upon entering through the vertical black basalt walls that line the Gates of the class IV Inferno Canyon. As you enter through the Gates the water churns, boils, and sets the mood for the up coming whitewater. The river takes a sharp turn left before another to the right as it enters the first rapid Entrada.
