Kayak Futaleufu is a joint effort between Luis Toro Mundaca, Breathe Inc., and Earth River Expeditions. Our mission is to work hand in hand with Luis, his family and the great people of the Futaleufu Valley, to bring paddlers a Futaleufu experience worthy of this unique region and people!
Luis' family was one of the original settlers of the Futaleufu valley, and Luis owns the largest piece of land along the Futaleufu river. Luis and his staff of native Chileans manage our land-based operations and provide us with mouth watering, home cooked, Chilean meals, transport, a phenominal valley chilean-style pub, honest hospitality and loads of entertaining animals and visitors! As principal land owner in the Futaleufu Valley, Luis will be key in the protection of the Futaleufu River.
Breathe Inc. is made up of whitewater kayaking legends Ken Whiting and Kevin Varette, along with the energetic and comedic James McBeath. Breathe has been setting the standard for paddling instruction and guiding with its unique and cutting edge approach to playboating and river running. The Breathe partnership are also the principal owners of Kayak International.
Earth River Expeditions have taken more people down the Futaleufu than anyone, and were the first company to run commercial trips on the Fu. Their 15 years of experience in running trips on the Futaleufu allows for the smoothest and safest paddling vacation possible, and they are also responsible for the development of the breathtaking 'Cave Camp', of which Kayak Futaleufu has been given full use for every trip.
